New England reached its roster maximum yesterday."

Yesterday Authentic Damien Harris Jersey , the New England Patriots announced the signing of undrafted rookie free agent wide receiver Xavier Ubosi — a move that put the team’s roster at 90 men, the maximum allowed during the offseason, for the first time since the NFL draft concluded a little more than a week ago. This means that now is the perfect time to take a closer look at who is on the team as it stands right now.Offense (45)Quarterback (4)Fourth-round draft pick Jarrett Stidham makes for an interesting addition to the Patriots’ quarterback group behind starter/future Hall of Famer Tom Brady. His development over the course of the offseason will be interesting to watch, especially as it relates to veteran backup Brian Hoyer and last year’s seventh-round choice Danny Etling.Running back (7)Already one of the deepest positions on the team, the Patriots decided to add Damien Harris on day two of the draft. The rookie will likely take on a rotational role on early downs and in short-yardage situations alongside top option Sony Michel. James White and Rex Burkhead, meanwhile, will resume their usual roles as the change-of-pace backs. James Develin returns as the NFL’s premier fullback, while the rest of the position depth chart will have to fight for its roster lives this summer.Wide receiver (12)The current personnel turnover at the wide receiver position left only three true roster locks on the team in veteran Julian Edelman, first-round rookie N’Keal Harry, and special teams captain Matthew Slater. The rest of the group will need to prove its value to the Patriots over the next four months — with Phillip Dorsett having the best chances of emerging with one of the spots in his hands due to his experience in the system.Tight end (5)Without Rob Gronkowski, the tight end group is a thin and unexperienced one in New England’s system: the five men combine for exactly zero in-game appearances for the Patriots. Lacking a true all-around player like Gronkowski, the group is basically split into receivers (Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Stephen Anderson) and blockers (Ryan Izzo, Andrew Beck). Free agency signing Matt LaCosse has probably the best potential to serve as a hybrid in the mold of Gronk.Offensive tackle (8)Following the departure of Trent Brown in free agency, left tackle remains a question mark at this point in time. 2018 first-round pick Isaiah Wynn, coming off a year-long stint on injured reserve due to a torn Achilles Damien Harris Jersey Boys , is the front-runner to earn the spot with third-round rookie Yodny Cajuste and former undrafted free agent Cole Crosten as the top backups. On the other side, meanwhile, Marcus Cannon will again hold down the fort.Offensive interior (9)The Patriots’ interior offensive line is one of the best in football, with center/team captain David Andrews and guards Joe Thuney and Shaq Mason all being among the NFL’s best young players at their respective positions. Beyond the top trio, fourth-round rookie Hjalte Froholdt and veterans Ted Karras and James Ferentz provide quality depth. All in all, the nine-man group is one of the strongest — literally and figuratively — on the team.Defense (41)Defensive interior (7)The free agency addition of Mike Pennel helps make up for the losses of Malcom Brown and Danny Shelton, and gives the Patriots a big run-stuffer to play alongside Lawrence Guy. Adam Butler will again see primarily passing-down snaps, with rookie Byron Cowart expected to fill a similar role. However, the fifth-round pick is not guaranteed a spot on the team and will have to compete against the other defensive tackles for what appears to be at best one spot on the 53-man roster.Defensive edge (9)Over the course of the offseason, the Patriots basically filled the spots vacated by Trey Flowers and Adrian Clayborn by trading for Michael Bennett and drafting Chase Winovich in round three. Together with Deatrich Wise Jr. and John Simon, they are expected to form the core of this year’s defensive edge group. Derek Rivers and Keionta Davis, meanwhile, are dark-horse candidates that need to take a step forward in order to justify being kept on the team through roster cuts.Linebacker (8)One year ago, the linebacker position was perceived to be one of the thinnest on the team. However, the return of Dont’a Hightower in combination with some excellent play from Kyle Van Noy and Elandon Roberts having his best season as a pro helped turn the position’s fortunes around in 2018. One player to keep an eye on this summer is Ja’Whaun Bentley: the 2018 fifth-round pick looked very solid in limited action during his rookie year — even serving as the on-field signal caller at one point — and could be in line for a bigger role.Cornerback (9)Arguably the best cornerback depth chart in the entire NFL, the Patriots feature an intriguing mix of established talent and developmental upside. Stephon Gilmore and Jason McCourty are the elder statesmen Infant Damien Harris Jersey , with J.C. Jackson as the emerging third option. Second-round rookie Joejuan Williams will likely see rotational snaps to start his career, while the usage of Jonathan Jones — he was outstanding in the Super Bowl as a corner/safety hybrid — and 2018 second-round pick Duke Dawson will be fun to watch.Safety (8)The Patriots added Terrence Brooks and undrafted rookie Malik Gant this offseason but the core of the safety group remains intact: Devin McCourty, Patrick Chung and Duron Harmon are the top three — a trio that might see some help from aforementioned cornerbacks Jonathan Jones and Joejuan Williams, depending on the opponent and the situation. While the safety group needs an infusion of youth in the future, it is still one of the most solid groups you’ll find in the league.Specialists (4)After re-signing Stephen Gostkowksi and Ryan Allen in free agency, the specialists group around long snapper Joe Cardona could remain intact for the fifth straight year — that is if Allen does not lose his spot to fifth-round rookie punter Jake Bailey, who also has experience as a kickoff specialist and could help lift some pressure off Gostkowski in this area.NFL Pathway Program (1)The Patriots were assigned fullback Jakob Johnson through the NFL’s Pathway Program this offseason: he can practice with the team all summer long, but does not count against the 90-man limit. If he fails to make the team — which seems like the most realistic outcome given the Patriots’ employment of James Develin — Johnson will transfer to New England’s practice squad as an eleventh player.Suspended (1)Josh Gordon remains indefinitely suspended, but would undoubtably be a huge addition to the team if reinstated: he is the team’s most prolific wide receiver outside of Julian Edelman, and the prototypical X-receiver in New England’s scheme. Adding him to the current core of Edelman and rookie N’Keal Harry would make the Patriots’ receiving group a lot deeper — and more dangerous to defend. The New England Patriots took care of business on Sunday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs and the pollsters rewarded their performance- some more than others. It should be no surprise that the lone undefeated team, the Los Angeles Rams, still hold the top spot in this week’s power rankings, while there appears to be a three-horse race for second place among the Patriots, New Orleans Saints (on a bye week), and...the Chiefs? One intrepid power ranker even decided to put the Patriots behind the Minnesota Vikings for good measure. But of the Patriots-Saints-Chiefs trio, only one placed the Patriots behind the Chiefs and I actually appreciate the sentiment. They give the Chiefs credit for taking the Patriots to the wire at Gillette Stadium without Eric Berry or Justin Houston. In reality Damien Harris Jersey Draft , the Patriots and Saints are the real favorites for the #2 spot and the Saints are coming off a bye week. New Orleans has the best offense in the league and one of the worst defenses, in a more extreme version of the Patriots’ performance this season. I’d personally take the Patriots over the Saints, but pollsters are still penalizing the Patriots for losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Detroit Lions, while the Saints only lost their opener to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Saints have a brutal stretch over the next six weeks, with games on the road against the Baltimore Ravens, Minnesota Vikings, and Cincinnati Bengals, while they host the Los Angeles Rams, Philadelphia Eagles, and Atlanta Falcons. We’ll find out if they’re truly deserving of one of top rankings over the coming weeks.Around the AFC East:(4-2) New England Patriots at (3-2) Chicago Bears(4-2) Miami Dolphins vs (2-3) Detroit Lions(3-3) New York Jets vs (3-2-1-) Minnesota Vikings(2-4) Buffalo Bills at (1-5) Indianapolis ColtsAFC Matchups:(4-2) Cincinnati Bengals at (5-1) Kansas City Chiefs(4-1) New Orleans Saints at (4-2) Baltimore Ravens(3-3) Tennessee Titans) at (4-2) Los Angeles Chargers(3-3) Houston Texans at (3-3) Jacksonville Jaguars(2-3-1) Cleveland Browns at (2-3) Tampa Bay Buccaneers(2-4) Denver Broncos at (1-5) Arizona CardinalsBye Weeks: (3-2-1) Pittsburgh Steelers, (1-5) Oakland Raiders - MMQB Staff (SI): Perhaps the Patriots’ three-week climb back toward the top is proof that we shouldn’t be so quick to move teams up or down. But they can’t reclaim their preseason spot at No. 1 until the Rams lose.2nd - Experts (ESPN): Playoff chances: 89.4 percent. It looks like the only thing that could derail the Patriots’ playoff chances would be an injury to Tom Brady or his WR corps. Brady is completing 72 percent of his passes with 9.3 yards per attempt to WRs in his past three games, compared with 57 percent and 5.5 yards per attempt during his first three games.2nd - Joe Giglio (NJ.com): The AFC still goes through the Patriots. Defense is still suspect to big talent and speed, but Tom Brady and his offensive weapons can score with anyone.2nd - Nate Davis (USA Today): Sony Michel has little shot of overtaking Saquon Barkley in ROY race, but he does lead all first-year backs with 80 rush yards per game.2nd - Expert Consensus (Bleacher Report): We’ve figured it out. The Patriots stumble in September to troll the media. Give us something to talk about. Or they might just be bored after owning the AFC for the last decade-and-a-half.Either way, every time people start hand-wringing about the Pats, they wind up with egg on their faces and crow on their plate. As the Pats demonstrated quite clearly in taking down the AFC’s last undefeated team in Week 6 Damien Harris NFL Jersey , they’re just fine—thank you very much. After a 1-2 start, the Pats have reeled off three straight wins, scoring at least 38 points in each. This offense could be downright scary, as Sobleski pointed out:”The Patriots proved they’re still the team to beat in the AFC after a Sunday night takedown of the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs are loaded on offense yet play little to no defense. New England may not feature the league’s best defense. However, it can at least stop someone once or twice. Plus, the Patriots offense is only going to get better as Josh Gordon and Julian Edelman become more comfortable.”The AFC’s big bad is still both. What a game.2nd - Joshua Schrock (NESN): Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs shredded New England’s defense, but Brady saved the day by engineering a game-winning drive to once again assert the Patriots’ dominance in the AFC.2nd - Rebecca Toback (SB Nation): The Patriots proved on Sunday that we were all crazy for doubting them during their 1-2 start to the season. New England beat Kansas City on Sunday Night Football in the shootout we all expected. It was a thriller that has the Patriots climbing up the Week 7 NFL power rankings and landing at the No. 2 spot, right ahead of the Chiefs. The Chiefs fought hard and almost staged an impressive comeback, but you can never count out Tom Brady and he proved to be the guy you want leading a game-winning fourth-quarter drive.2nd - Staff (AP Pro32).3rd - Frank Schwab (Yahoo! Sports): There were so many things to like about Sunday night’s game, but let’s not overlook kicker Stephen Gostkowski. He hit all nine kicks (five field goals, four extra points) and there was no doubt that he’d hit the game-winner as time expired. There’s something to be said about having a reliable kicker.3rd - Mark Maske (Washington Post): Remember that 1-2 start to the season? It’s a fading memory now. The Patriots have totaled 119 points while winning their last three games. The return of Julian Edelman and the addition of Josh Gordon have fixed the problems at WR. Now comes a trip to Chicago to face a Bears defense that ranks among the league’s best but couldn’t stop Brock Osweiler on Sunday in Miami.3rd - Pete Prisco (CBS Sports): They showed they could play with anybody in the league by beating the Chiefs. Getting the running game going is big for the offense.3rd - Mike Florio (ProFootballTalk): Go ahead and make those reservations for Atlanta in early February.5th - Bryan Fischer (Athlon Sports): Lost amid the furor of that wild win over the Chiefs was the fact that the Pats rushed for 173 yards. Given the limitations on defense, that’s a trend that will only help make this offense more dangerous and allow them to win shootouts and physical battles all the same.Week 7 Average Rank: 2.5 (+1.9) NATION SAMPLING:2nd - Brandon Lee Gowton (BleedingGreenNation): Still the kings of the AFC. Bill Belichick is now 6-2 against Andy Reid.2nd - David Fucillo (NinersNation)
